Our Investment Criteria

TLS targets investments in the $500,000 to $30 million range but and can execute larger transactions through co-investment. The TLS team targets both start-ups and revenue bearing businesses and are comfortable taking  either a majority or minority positions given appropriate alignment and governance rights. Transaction types that we focus on include:

• Start-ups (seed and early investment capital)
• Acquisition of established businesses (divestitures or sponsor sales)
• Management led buyouts of private companies.
• Private investment syndication: equity or debt

Factors that TLS considers when assessing investment opportunities include:

• Management experience and commitment
• Meaningfully differentiated products or services
• Exclusivity in the form of patent protection
• Market dynamics: size, growth, current and future competition
• A logical business plan supported by credible sales and profit forecasts.
• Enterprise valuation versus those of comparable assets

In the subject line please put the name of your company (i.e.., “ACME Pharma, Inc). We will advise you if your application meets our investment criteria within four weeks after we have received it and will outline the next step in our assessment process.

Investments typically include:

• Individual investments
• TLS members-only pools
• Co-investment in syndicated transactions with non-TLS members including private equity and venture capital investment groups (equity and debt)
• Between $500,000 and $1 million for venture capital (initial round).
• Smaller transactions considered on an ad hoc basis
